Schema markup is code, which is added to your website to display more information about your website below meta tags. It helps search engines to understand your content better and offers additional information to users.

Generally, there are three formats of schema markups used for any website which are common in the most popular search engines.

  • JSON-LD
  • Microdata
  • RDFa

JSON-LD

JSON-LD (JavaScript Objective Notation for Linked Data) schema is mostly preferred by search engines such as Google, Yandex, and Bing and primarily google’s recommended method of implementing structured data. Its main advantage over other schema types is that you need not place it in the body of the website page instead it is embedded as a script and can be placed anywhere on the website.
